Jennifer Lopez did Hustlers for ‘free,’ named GQ’s ‘Men of the Year’
As if Jennifer Lopez didn’t already seemingly have all the honors and awards in the world, she just earned a male-centric one.
The 50-year-old multihyphenate was named one of the GQ ‘Men Of The Year’ alongside Robert de Niro, Al Pacino, and Tyler, The Creator.
As she is featured on one of the covers of the December issue, she touched on several different topics including her relationship with Alex Rodriguez and whether or not money turns her on.
Shining star: Jennifer Lopez was named one of the GQ Men Of The Year on Monday
J-Lo was featured heavily on all of GQ’s content channels as she revealed in an accompanying video interview that she did Hustlers for ‘free.’
The star broke down her most iconic moments in her career as she said that she was not paid to do the star-studded stripper movie up-front as she said: ‘I didn’t get paid a whole bunch of money for Hustlers.
‘I did it for free and produced it. Like Jenny from the Block—I do what I love.’
Stunning: Inside the pages of the magazine, the 50-year-old multihyphenate showed off her sultry side including a sexy snap of herself in a black body clinging leather strapless dress
She explained that the film became a movement with the aim of turning the patriarchy on its head.
J-Lo said: ‘This is our movie, where we run s***. They know it’s all women producers, woman director, woman writer, all women starring in it. We’ve been watching men take advantage of women in movies for a long time, so it was a fun ride to see the tables turned.’
The cover of the annual issue is very straight forward as it is focused squarely on the A-lister’s youthful face as her blonde locks cascaded over her right eye.
Lopez made sure to show off her evergreen looks as she went make-up free for the pictorial.

There was also an accompanying Q&A by New York magazine’s feature editor Jessica Pressler whose 2015 article The Hustlers At Scores was the basis for her most recent critically acclaimed film.
The editor seems to be just as familiar with J-Lo’s writing as she cited the megastar’s 2014 book True Love in which she states that the person you are with should make you better.
Pressler queries the mother-of-two how she and Alex make each other better to which Jennifer responded: ‘I mean, we’re very similar. We’re really alike in our drive, in our ambition. He’s an athlete. He wanted to be the best. I’m the same way. I just want to be great at what I do. We’re both like that.
‘We’re both super-hard workers. We’re driven by our passions. And we have a tremendous amount of respect for each other.’

She goes on to explain that their ability to communicate with each other has been a key in their relationship as well as their focus on business.
J-Lo added: ‘When I first met him, I was telling him about my perfume business. He loves business. He went to business school online and took classes, and he just had a real passion for it. And he knew that I was a creative person who had clothing lines, perfume lines, and had some success in consumer sales.
‘So I was telling him a story. And he was like, “Wait, what did you say? How much did you make? I think there’s a better way to do it.”‘
She said the 44-year-old Fox MLB analyst is constantly thinking outside the box and that they have taken on a new passion together.
Legends: Al Pacino (left) and Robert de Niro were also named Men of the Year and featured on the cover of the December issue
Flower Boy: Tyler, The Creator was also recognized as his latest album, Igor, is one of the most critically-acclaimed of the year
Jennifer said: ‘So we’re doing a lot of investing. And we’re owning businesses as opposed to being in the licensing business, which a lot of, you know, celebrities do. You wind up making billions of dollars for people, but you’re still having to hustle.’
Things get extra personal in the interview as she is asked – in the Hustlers spirit, obviously – if money turns her on.
J-Lo got very candid as she said: ‘A lot of things make me horny—I don’t think money is one of them. But I do like money! Money is an amazing thing! I don’t know that it turns me on, but it does make things easier.’
They also touched down on her signing on to perform at the Super Bowl Halftime Show in Miami in a few months despite the controversy surrounding it, notably Rihanna said she turned down the opportunity to stand in unity with Colin Kapernick.

J-Lo was asked if she had any conflicting opinions on it as she answered earnestly: ‘No. I understand people not wanting to do it. Everybody has to make their own choices. They have to feel good about what they’re doing.
‘I feel like it’s an amazing platform and one of the biggest in the world to put out whatever message you want to put out there.’
She will be coheadlining with Shakira and feels like it is important opportunity for the both of them to change some perspectives.
Jennifer explained: ‘I feel that it’s a great thing to have two Latina women in Miami headlining the Super Bowl, and what we could do with those 12 to 14 minutes to make people understand our worth and value in this country.… I think it could be a really beautiful celebration. ‘
