Her upper body glistened with sweat as she sported a huge pair of black boxing gloves.

In the NBC series, which she also produces, JLo plays a single mother and seemingly corrupt member of a team of Brooklyn lawmen led by Ray Liotta’s sleazy Lt. Matt Wozniak.

But in a twist, her character is actually working as an informant for the force’s anti-corruption unit.

Speaking about the ambiguous nature of the show at a Television Academy event this summer, she said: ‘We know that certain things are wrong.’

‘But in certain situations, doing the wrong thing is the right thing. It’s about that internal struggle that every single person has.’

Jennifer’s star power was enough to get the show renewed, despite lackluster ratings, and due to stiff competition on other channels was one of the most time-shifted programs on television.

When the renewal was announced NBC’s entertainment president Jennifer Salke said: ‘We want to thank Jennifer, who is the hardest-working woman we know, for her incredible efforts as both the star and producer of this show.’

Season two of Shades Of Blue is scheduled to hit screens midseason.
