Tim Walz Endorses Anti-Gun Activist David Hogg For DNC Vice Chair
Democrat Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz , running mate to Vice President Kamala Harris, has given his endorsement to anti-gun leftist David Hogg to be the Democratic National Committee vice-chair.
“David Hogg represents exactly the kind of bold, dynamic, and courageous leadership the Democratic Party needs right now,” the former candidate said.
“After campaigning with David throughout the country, I know firsthand his unique ability to connect with the American people and to speak to the strengths of our party,” he said.
“This is exactly what we need right now: experienced, thoughtful, and energized leadership that meets people where they are and takes bold action to win. I couldn’t be happier to throw my support behind him and his vision for the party, and I look forward to working with him every step of the way,” he said.
Hogg, a survivor of the Parkland school shooting who has been an anti-gun activist since the incident, acknowledged the endorsement.
“Ever since the shooting at my high school, he’s been a champion for the gun violence prevention movement––exemplifying leadership that listens, takes action, and works tirelessly to better our lives,” the 24-year-old said.
“Beyond his commitment to public service, Governor Walz is a good human being, plain and simple. He’s a good, decent man, and the Democratic Party is fortunate to have him in its ranks,” he said.
The endorsement came a day after the Minnesota governor and failed vice presidential candidate endorsed Minnesota Democratic Party Chair Ken Martin for Democratic National Committee chair.
“In Minnesota, Ken has built a national model for how to elect Democrats in a competitive state,” the governor said. “I have seen Ken’s leadership in action, and it’s exactly what we need from our next D.N.C. chair.”
